چکیده

In recent years, the scaling of microelectronic, photonic and micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) to the 50-500 nm length scale has challenged the capability of conventional micro-fabrication technologies in the cost-effective, mass production of devices and integrated systems [1]. There is an increasing need to develop new nano-fabrication technologies to address the challenges of decreasing dimensions, in order to enable the era of nanotechnology [2].

Self-branching in GaN Nanowires Induced by a Novel Vapor-Liquid-Solid Mechanism

Nanowires have great potential as building blocks for nanoscale electrical and optoelectronic devices. The difficulty in achieving functional and hierarchical nanowire structures poses an obstacle to realization of practical applications. While post-growth techniques such as fluidic alignment might be one solution, selfassembled structures during growth such as branches are promising for functi...

Directed assembly of one-dimensional nanostructures into functional networks.

One-dimensional nanostructures, such as nanowires and nanotubes, represent the smallest dimension for efficient transport of electrons and excitons and thus are ideal building blocks for hierarchical assembly of functional nanoscale electronic and photonic structures. We report an approach for the hierarchical assembly of one-dimensional nanostructures into well-defined functional networks. We ...

Increased robustness for fluidic self-assembly

Self-assembly methods have been developed at the microand nanoscale to create functional structures from subelements stochastically dispersed in a fluid. Self-assembly paradigms have limitations in terms of achievable complexity of the final structure, ability to perform error correction, and scalability. Fluidic self-assembly attempts to overcome these limitations by incorporating a controlled...

Guided and fluidic self-assembly of microstructures using railed microfluidic channels.

Fluidic self-assembly is a promising pathway for parallel fabrication of devices made up of many small components. Here, we introduce 'railed microfluidics' as an agile method to guide and assemble microstructures inside fluidic channels. The guided movement of microstructures in microfluidic channels was achieved by fabricating grooves ('rails') on the top surface of the channels and also crea...

Fabrication of nanostructure via self-assembly of nanowires within the AAO template

The novel nanostructures are fabricated by the spatial chemical modification of nanowires within the anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template. To make the nanowires better dispersion in the aqueous solution, the copper is first deposited to fill the dendrite structure at the bottom of template. During the process of self-assembly, the dithiol compound was used as the connector between the nanowires...
